The first draft whirlwind

So it goes..."Deep was the Well" being my first novel-length story, I mucked around with revising it as I wrote the first draft until I finally realized that I was never, ever going to finish the story until unless I simply buckled down and left the cringe-worthy first few (read: first twenty) chapters be. And that's just what I did. I officially finished Draft 1 over Thanksgiving weekend and then mostly set the project aside during the business of the holiday. Ok...here's my stab at a summary without giving too much away:
Eli James has a problem: he dreams. In a society dominated by logic and intelligence, he sets out to find a cure for this anomaly before it dismantle a promising future for the young analyst.
His research brings him into contact with a girl named Zepher, who defies reason with every encounter. Her fierce nature and odd ways begin to pull at the threads of Eli's carefully ordered life, revealing a terrible secret about not only his past, but the history of their entire city.
This story explores the relationship between a boy and a girl, emotion and logic, urban and rural, and the frail balance that exists between them all.
